What happens when you grant complete freedom to a man obsessed with colors and put him in charge of a team making computers? You get One Happy 2. Yes the second model following up Acer’s Aspire One Happy. There are some improvements and some compromises and here is the small, vibrant and colorful netbook.
Acer Aspire One Happy 2 – Does Anyone Like Those Colors?
I can vouch for myself and most of my friends (males and females), none of us would want to hop into a car with a ‘papaya milk’ colored netbook, we wouldn’t wish to carry the banana cream model on flight, strawberry yogurt might, just might suit a young guy walking into a coffee shop or while ordering a mixed fruit dessert. One of my friends (mighty impressed with ‘My Blueberry Nights’) may land up with the Blueberry Shake model hoping for his real life Norah Jones.
However, I fail to understand why some company should go to an extent of coloring the touchpad with the lid theme. I mean, seriously, this is supposedly a netbook, an alternative to on the go net surfing and attending to quick stuff where a notebook or a more traditional laptop becomes heavy and comes in with much more stuff than you would want at that point of time, this is not a toy gadget by any way. I got my sister to have a look wondering if women would like the color or the rippling effect on the cover design. She was all smiles in rejection.
Acer Aspire One Happy 2 – There Is the ChromeBook and This One, Why?
Netbooks aren’t gaining any popularity over time and the induction of more and more Tablets would perhaps ring the death bell for these devices yet Acer plans to expand Aspire netbook series besides already launching Chromebooks based on Google’s Chrome Operating system. Someone told me the other day this netbook doesn’t work on new browsers (Chrome throws up the system more than often) and is unable to cope up with multitasking and Asus does a much better job with their netbook models.

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 – Specifications
Acer Aspire One Happy 2 sports a 10.1 inch Crystal Brite LED backlit display which doesn’t disappoint and the Intel Atom N570 dual core processor is no surprise. The integrated Intel Graphics actually work and the netbook performs well if you restrict yourself to only surfing and some parallel tasks. Acer comes down from 2 GB of RAM in the earlier Aspire netbook version and Acer Aspire One Happy 2 comes with a 1 GB RAM along with 250 GB of hard drive.
I must state a few very positive aspects of this netbook and they go as this (in the following order of significance) – Wi-Fi happens to be very effective, the battery life of up to 8 hours almost lives up to its claim, Ethernet LAN port works very efficiently and the model weighing just a little over 1 Kg is amazingly light and being barely an inch thick, an amazing device to carry along anywhere even without a bag.
Acer Aspire One Happy 2 Price
Selling at 270 USD this is by far one of the most affordable simple computing devices for your surfing, entertainment and normal documentary work and for those who really do not intend to spend something like 400 or 500 USD for a substandard laptop, Acer Aspire One Happy 2 is game on.
