Apple iPhone 4S has gained a lot of popularity since it is launched. It is packed with all the features of the much-rumored iPhone 5. With top-end technology, iPhone 4S is now one of the most popular smartphones in the market. HTC Radar is a premium smartphone that comes with an impressive operating system. Here we compare the features of Apple iPhone 4S with HTC Radar.

Form Factor

Apple iPhone 4S measures 115.2×58.6×9.3mm and weighs 140g whereas HTC Radar is 120.5×61.5×10.9mm in size and weighs 137g.

Apple iPhone 4S looks similar to the iPhone 4. The design is almost similar. There is no doubt that the design is very appealing and the users still like it even though it has been repeated. But still many of us are disappointed. The users were expecting something different from iPhone 5 but instead iPhone 4S was launched without any changes in the design.

Usually, HTC follows the same pattern of designs in its smartphones. HTC Radar has also been introduced with a similar design from the line up. It has a decent design but there is nothing special about its exterior. However, HTC Titan is more pleasing in terms of design.

Display

The iPhone 4S is popular because of its retina display. It always remains on an edge when it is compared with the displays of other devices. However, it comes with a screen size of 3.5 inches. The display offers a resolution of 640×960 pixels and a pixel density of 330 ppi. The visuals are very clear and look beautiful.

The iPhone 4S comes with an IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen and offers gyro sensors, an accelerometer and a multi-touch input. The screen is scratch resistant and the oleophobic surface prevents smudges and fingerprints. On the other hand, HTC Radar has a 3.8-inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen that is bigger than the iPhone 4S. It offers more color depth, better brightness with low power consumption if compared to any other LCD.

The pixel density is less as compared to iPhone 4S. It stands at 246 ppi. The display is covered with a Gorilla Glass and offers a resolution of 480×800 pixels. Other features include gyro sensors, accelerometer and multi-touch input.

Storage

HTC Radar provides 8GB of internal memory which is quite sufficient to perform the basic tasks. But it cannot compete with iPhone 4S that offers 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of memory. Both the smartphones feature a RAM of 512MB. However, there is no provision for a card slot.

Processor

HTC Radar runs a 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Scorpion processor with a MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset. There is an Adreno 205 GPU that enhances the visual capabilities. This processor is ideal for the Windows Phone platform and single core handsets.

The iPhone 4S features a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor. It is quite similar to that of iPad 2. The PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU improves the graphical performance.

Operating System

HTC Radar runs Windows Phone Mango operating system which is quite intuitive. The system is very simple to operate. Mango comes with many unique features that support the live information. Apart from this, it offers integration with social networking sites, various messaging options and contacts lists, instant messaging, comprising texts, emails, social status updates etc. Email has been streamlined. There is an option for multiple or separate inboxes for exchange email and webmail accounts. These can be put on start menu.

The list is decorated with many new useful attributes. Overall, Mango gives a very comfortable user experience. If we talk about the iPhone 4S, many new features are offered by iOS 5 such as iMessage. This results in a quick browsing experience. It also comes with a Siri Assistant that allows you to control the smartphone with the help of your voice. The iOS 5 offers an excellent performance. The iTunes catalogue allows you to make a choice from the game support and app.

Camera

HTC Radar features a 5MP camera that takes pictures at a resolution of 2560×1920 pixels. The videos are captured at 720p. There is a secondary camera in the device too. It also features autofocus, digital zoom, LED flash, geo-tagging and video calling.

The iPhone 4S comes with an 8MP camera that gives a resolution of 3264×2448 pixels. Video calling is supported on Wi-Fi. It gives a better performance with its various unique features such as LED flash, autofocus, video light, image & video stabilization, touch focus, face detection and geo-tagging. This new smartphone from HTC can capture HD video at 1080p. It also has a secondary camera.

Price

Apple iPhone 4S is available between Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000 whereas the cost of HTC Radar is Rs. 22,000 approx.

Sum Up

Though HTC Radar runs an excellent operating system, Windows Phone 7, and is a decent handset but it cannot compete with the impressive functionality of iPhone 4S. Apple iPhone 4S is a smarter handset with a feature-rich platform that promises to deliver effective results.
