Nokia N9 is a unique handset from Nokia, as the company has always aimed at creating eye catchy handsets. However, these have their own ups & downs. The latest phone of Nokia, Nokia N9, is a mighty attractive handset that is creating ripples in the mobiles marketplace. Samsung Galaxy S2 on the other hand is an improved version of Galaxy S. It is lightweight, quite, and sleek. Here we have compared the features of Nokia N9 with Samsung Galaxy S2.

Design
Nokia N9 measures 116.5×61.2×12.1mm and weighs 135g. It has a broad screen and there is hardly any difference between the side of the phone and that of the screen. There is just a sleek colored strip.
The screen has a curved glass. The phone has sharp corners and is quite angular. The finish is amazing and the screen offers an excellent contrast. Overall, the design looks marvelous and very appealing.
Samsung Galaxy 2 has a plastic exterior. It measures 125.3×66.1×8.5 mm and weighs 116g. The phone has a decent build quality. The overall look is very attractive. Both the phones have an excellent appearance. However, Nokia N9 looks more appealing as compared to Samsung Galaxy S2.

Nokia N9 has an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 3.9 inches. It is covered with Gorilla Glass. The screen gives a decent resolution with a pixel count of 480×854. It has an excellent pixel density of 238 ppi.
The screen gives a vibrant display, an excellent power efficiency and color depth. There is an anti-glare polariser coating on the display. The screen gives a clear view in bright daylight. It comprises of an accelerometer sensor and a multi-touch input.
Samsung Galaxy S2 has a large SuperAMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen of 4.3 inches. It offers a resolution of 480×800 pixels and a pixel density of 218 ppi. The handset uses a TouchWiz 4.0 user interface. Gorilla Glass covers the display. With a higher resolution and pixel density, Nokia N9 gives an enhanced picture quality than Samsung Galaxy S2.
Storage
There are storage options for 16GB and 64GB in Nokia N9. However, the 32GB option is missing in the phone. It comes with a RAM of 1GB and a ROM of 512MB. There is no option for external storage.
Samsung Galaxy S2 offers storage for 16GB or 32GB variants. It has a RAM of 1GB. The microSD card can be used to increase the capacity to 32GB. Nokia does not have a card support but it has an edge over Samsung Galaxy S2 in terms of storage.
Processor
Nokia N9 is equipped with an ARM Cortex A8 processor. It comprises of a digital signal processor of 430MHz. This processor helps in crunching data transmission, audio information and picture. Galaxy S2 comprises of an ARM-based hardware. It runs a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor of 1.2GHz. It also supports Mali-400MP GPU.
Nokia gives a very fast and reliable performance. It handles the graphics with the help of a PowerVR technology. The dual-core processor of Samsung offers more features than Nokia and gives a better performance.

Samsung Galaxy S2 runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3. It is the most popular operating system used these days. It gives an improved performance with an intuitive and smooth user interface. The touch keyboard makes typing easy.
Android system offers multi-tasking. You can easily switch between various apps. It also offers an app management suite. You can check out the details of your apps by using the new menu.
It gives information on the space taken, memory used and battery consumed. Nokia N9 runs on the MeeGo system of Nokia. It is the first smartphone that is using MeeGo 1.2 ‘Harmattan’ build. This operating system is based on Linux.
Three different home screens are used by the interface. There is an ‘Events’ screen that has the social networking updates with system notifications. It also includes IM and email services. The phone apps are organized and launched in the ‘Applications’ screen. The ‘Open Apps’ screen is used for performing various tasks.
MeeGo interface can be controlled by gesture control. The browser supports HTML5. It offers integration with MS Office, Open Office and PDF document, Facebook, Twitter, GoogleTalk and Skype. Nokia N9 comes with an 8MP camera that gives a decent resolution at 3264×2448 pixels. It captures video at 720p. Video calling is also supported by the camera. It offers unique features such as autofocus, geo-tagging, touch-focus, dual LED flash, exposure control, face detection, white balance.
Samsung Galaxy S2 also supports an 8MP camera. It captures video at 1080p. It comprises of various features such as image stabilization, smile detection, touch focus, geo-tagging, LED flash, panorama capture and autofocus. There is a secondary camera of 2MP.
Both the cameras capture the shots really well. If Samsung captures video at a high quality, Nokia offers image stabilization, panorama mode and smile detection.
Price
Nokia N9 is priced at Rs. 30,000 approx whereas the cost of Samsung Galaxy S2 is Rs. 29,850 approx.
Sum Up
Nokia N9 comes with a bold design and an impressive hardware. However the software, interface and operating system are the concerning factors. Nokia is known for making attractive handsets but will the operating system survive in the market?
Though the design of Samsung is not as creative as that of Nokia but it offers wonderful features. Both the phones have excellent processors and camera setups. Overall, Samsung Galaxy 2 is better than Nokia N9.
