If Samsung Galaxy Note has received mixed reviews for its features, then Sony Tablet P is in conversation for its design. Galaxy Note has the features of both a tablet and a smartphone whereas Sony Tablet P is the best mini tablet available. Both the devices are quite impressive. Here we compare Samsung Galaxy Note with Sony Tablet P.

Samsung Galaxy Note Vs Sony Tablet P

Features Comparison Between Samsung Galaxy Note & Sony Tablet P

Form and Build

Sony Tablet P is 180x158x14 mm in size when opened and 180x79x28 mm when closed. It weighs 372g. Samsung Galaxy Note measures 146.9x83x9.7 mm and weighs 178g.

Sony Tablet P has given a challenge to the design of all other tablets. It has a very unique and aesthetic design that has set a standard for the upcoming tablets. Some users have appreciated this effort while others have criticized it. However, the tablet breaks the viewing into two parts which is quite disappointing.

As you can easily fold the tablet, it is simple to use and quite durable. The screens are also protected when it is folded. Galaxy Note also has a sophisticated and elegant design. It looks quite similar to Galaxy S2. The smartphone is very sleek and light-weight because of a plastic exterior. Though Sony Tablet P gives a touch competition to other devices but it breaks the viewing. Therefore, Galaxy Note scores more with its overall minimalist design.

Display

There are two TFT touch type screens in Sony Tablet P that measure 5.5 inches. But the tablet suffers from a drawback. Its upper screen is for media viewing while the lower one is especially designed for controls. This division breaks the viewing rhythm.

Galaxy Note comes with a SuperAMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 5.3 inches. It gives a resolution of 800×1280 pixels with a 285 ppi pixel density. The SuperAMOLED feature makes the visuals look excellent. Therefore, Galaxy Note definitely offers a better display than Sony Tablet P.

Camera

Sony Tablet P comes with a 5MP camera. There is a front-facing camera that can be used for video calling. The video can be recorded at 720p. It features many options such as touch-focus, smile and face detection, geo-tagging, image stabilization etc.

Software

Both the devices run on Android. Sony Tablet P uses Android’s software version for tablets, Honeycomb. Honeycomb offers tablet-centric tweaks that includes a new user interface, a notification system and newly improved core apps. This gives a comfortable user experience.

Galaxy Note uses Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Gingerbread is a basic version of Galaxy Note. Therefore, it does not offer any new experience. But Note covers this flaw with TouchWiz UI 4.0 that offers social networking functionality with various content expansions like music and eBooks. Overall, Tablet P is better in terms of software and has a comfortable user interface.
