Samsung has finally understood and acknowledged the predominant Dual SIM phenomenon that had swept the mobile phone market. For a long time when lesser known companies were aggressively coming up with Dual SIM phones the likes of Samsung and Nokia stayed almost ignorant of the growing trend but time has proved the feature was not just a runaway hit but a factor that impressed everyone irrespective of someone owning two numbers or not.

It’s been barely a few days Samsung has rolled out their Champ Duos and as we at Techholik had predicted the price is within 5,000 INR and some discount plans bring it down to about 4,500 INR. Today we shall take a look at Samsung Star 2 Duos, the follow up model or the Dual SIM version of Samsung Star 2 Duos, and how take a peek it has fared thus far.

Samsung Star 2 Duos Review

Samsung Champ had one issue with the touch screen after a couple of weeks of extensive use at times the touch sensor needed more tapping than one for effective response. The problem seems to be a Samsung issue in their low and mid range touch screen phones as Samsung Star 2 Duos seems to inherit this interface trouble.

The accelerometer sensor works great and the display though the resolution of 400 by 240 pixels for a 3.2 inch screen doesn’t sound that great but the brightness makes it look better than expected. Although you may find it a little troubling if you are out on a sunny day.

One of the most effective features of Samsung Star 2 Duos that works really well is its Wi-Fi. We have had a lot of trouble with Samsung Chat 335 in which the Wi-Fi seemed too dependent on the router source but that issue doesn’t crop up in this one, thankfully.

Everyone was delighted when Samsung announced a 3.2 MP camera in this phone and it was justified since Samsung is well known to push in an inferior 0.3 MP camera in any phone selling at even 4,500 INR.

However those days seem to be out and a 3.2 MP Camera is one of the most intriguing spec in the new Samsung Star 2 Duos. I don’t like the 15 frames per second video recording though, doesn’t make give you a feel of a normal video and the static capturing is highly predominant.

The sound output works great and so does the entire social networking and instant messaging experience, more so if you are hooked to a nice high speed Wi-Fi Hotspot. GPRS and EDGE works well and the Bluetooth V 3.0 is fantastic, pairing is easy and sharing is much faster than the likes of Champ and most other phones from any maker.

The memory card slot supports 16 GB but we didn’t get to see any memory card in the box or preloaded (I would have like at least a 2 GB one for free) and the micro USB 2.0 port is a welcome inclusion. To sum it up, Samsung Star 2 Duos with Dual SIM standby, state of the art features and effective specifications at an affordable price is a phone worth buying.
