The launch of the all new Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, which is an upgraded version of the Xperia Arc, launched just six months before, brings to light the rapid technological advancement made in smartphones.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S Features
Design
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S has dimensions of 125 x 63 x 8.7 mm and weighs 117 grams. The façade of the handset is marked by the Bravia Engine Reality Display measuring 4.2 inch. This technology has a reputation of providing the brightest, finest and the sharpest visuals and boasts of providing the most touch-sensitive display as compared to other rivals on the shelves. It has a maximum resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.
For a comfortable grasp the slim chassis of the device is made thinner around the waist and flatter near the ends. The brilliant design also existed in previous model but going by the sleek design the power button was made so smaller that finding the key became an added issue. Here, the power button is made more prominent and it is accompanied by the HDMI port.
The USB connector, dedicated camera key and volume rocker are located on the right edge of the device. The back side of the handset is embedded with the HD camera along with LED flash and a secondary microphone with noise cancellation feature and coated with a white enamel cover.
Interface
Though the changes in the Android 2.3.4 are minimal compared to Android 2.3.3 but the little new features are quite impressive to fiddle around with. When it comes to Android smartphones homescreens are important which houses the shortcuts to folders, widgets and apps. But, in Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S there are only five screens.
Apart from the notification tools for networking sites and emails, the most amazing part is the folder view where you will get a grid upon each folder displaying first four applications inside, in a mini icon format. The floating dock provides an expanded view of all the application with an icon for the editing mode located at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Dragging and dropping of apps onto the homescreens are quite easy and if you wish to remove them simply press the red-cross above the unwanted app. Moreover, if you get lost while rummaging through homescreens simply hit the Overview mode to get a pile of widgets floating on respective homescreens.

Camera
The 8 MP shooter captures bright and sharp images but just like the other Sony Ericsson handsets this one also suffers from exaggerated colour effects. The camera application is quite fast but the megapixel count drops to 6 MP if you move to 16:9 aspect ratio shots from 4:3.
The 16x digital zoom is made available while recording videos too and the quality remains intact. In fact, the shooter is capable of capturing 720p videos at 30 frames per second.
